It’s official: You can get Sony e-readers at Target now. My dearest Sony, whom I love almost as much as I love Honda, if ever I thought you had one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel, I apologize and heartily welcome you back into the ring.
Knock Kindle dead. If you want to keep your gloves on, I’ll wrap your hands and tape them for you.
I tried a Sony Reader for a few weeks and fell hard for it. I’ve dithered about buying my own–the iLiad intrigues me too–but each of these announcements stokes my need for a Sony of my own to cherish, fondle, and glom with.
.
Tell me more. A reader is the only likely way of turning me to ebooks, but the only one I’ve seen is a Kindle. (Which I liked okay, but I don’t think the economics add up yet.)
Sadly, it seems there are no Targets here in Switzerland, but I just saw a picture of this on display there, and it looks great!!! 😀
I think that might be the new one that was released yesterday (but not sure).
Karlene said she wanted a red Blackberry and that would be nice, but the Sony comes in red, too, I believe.
When I was formatting the book for the Sony, I could see the eInk effect (albeit because of the background and font combination) and I think I’ll take the Tax Deductions and go to Target today and look.
Well, I’m hoping to get an e-book reader soon (printing things out to read on the train is obviously not ideal), but I’m waiting for something I can find conveniently in Europe. I thought about buying that kindle thing when I was in the U.S., but stopped when I found out that it was tied to a sales service that I couldn’t access where I live.
I’ve been in the mobile phone business long enough to have learned to buy the mature product instead of the first release ;), but the e-book business is moving fast enough that I expect to find something soon that I’ll like.
Forbes had an article yesterday that “the iPhone is more popular than Kindle” for ebook reading using the Stanza reading software. Your mention of being in the phone business made me remember that little tidbit.
