None May Say blog review<\/a> of the self-pubbed Do The Math<\/em><\/a> by Philip B. Persinger:<\/p>\n [summary snippage]<\/p>\n Virginia \u201cFaye\u201d Warner, William\u2019s wife, is a romance novelist. Her books all follow a rigid \u2014 and successful \u2014 formula. But her reality falls fall short of her fairy tale public fa\u00e7ade.<\/strong><\/p>\n [more summary snip]<\/p>\n [begin review]<\/p>\n To its credit, Do the Math<\/em> is not a novel of overblown passions \u2026 So the fact that Do the Math<\/em> does not rise to the extravagance of a typical romance novel (no pirates, for example, and the coma and hospital romance aren\u2019t what one might expect) does not detract from the novel at all.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Color me touchy, but really. All this tells me is that the reviewer has never actually read a romance novel. Ever. I had umbrage. Apparently, Emily Veinglory did, too, and rightly chastises the reviewer for such sloppiness.<\/p>\n Great googly moogly. We come back to the principle of reading something before snarking. And I want to know something. How come other genres aren\u2019t ever chastised for their \u201cformulae\u201d?<\/p>\n And PS also, too.
