Last night\u2019s fare: I Am Legend<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t watch many movies because I\u2019m usually obsessed with the ones playing in my head, begging to be laid on paper.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019ll roll over for post-apocalyptic tales (oh, 12 Monkeys<\/em><\/a> and Waterworld<\/em><\/a> come to mind and that reminds me, why [other than Kevin Costner\u2019s acting] is Waterworld<\/em> so reviled?). I Am Legend<\/em> is the best I\u2019ve seen yet.<\/p>\n

My husband doesn\u2019t like stories told in flashback (even little bits of backstory), so that bugged him, but he\u2019s not a post-apocalypse fan AT ALL, so the fact that he liked it at all was impressive. And Will Smith? The man can act. I need to see Hancock<\/em><\/a>. I don\u2019t even know what it\u2019s about, but Will Smith has excellent judgment as an actor and businessman, so I\u2019ll not question him on the roles he chooses.<\/p>\n

Over at Toward an LDS Cinema<\/a>, I\u2019ve been on Trevor\u2019s case to see Dogma<\/em><\/a> (as all 4 regular readers of this blog will know). I still think that\u2019s a fabulous not-quite-post-apocalyptic movie (amongst other themes, leit motifs, and regular ol\u2019 motifs).<\/p>\n

I have my own post-apocalyptic tale in the hopper, so we\u2019ll see how well I do at creating a world that doesn\u2019t exist, but could.<\/p>\n
