In reply to christineplouvier. I never thought about it cleaning out the meme gene pool, but excellent point. As for blogging, I've always liked it when I had something to say. Now what I have to say is usually pithy (or not), but I'm tired of Facebook not sharing them even if I post them. The only place I can actually control my content is here. I can't make people come and read, but what I do write won't be hidden from those who want to.

As a writer, to me Facebook has always been a wasteland – just crickets and tumbleweeds.

The only good thing it ever did was to lure a large amount of spam out of my e-mail : my inbox no longer fills up with chain letters and jokes.

Thanks for this post and the one before it. I stopped using Facebook so long ago, I don’t even remember when. I never liked Facebook either, and the more they kept resurrecting my deleted Wall Posts, the more I disliked them. I’m loathe to go back there ever again. Don’t miss it one bit.
