Thanks, Eugene. And there’s goes another of my misconceptions. I knew Feedbooks was a FREE reads site, but I didn’t know you could post excerpts and send people elsewhere. SmashWords really discourages that, but they also have a mechanism in place whereby people can read samples, so it’s not an issue.

Mark and Bill and I all tried to crunch my HTML source file and the Meatgrinder was not a happy camper.

I'd also recommend posting an excerpt on feedbooks, with a "you can buy the book here and here" as the last chapter. Be aware that like Smashwords, getting any complex formatting to look even okay takes some tweaking (it's still a long way from what you can get with the OEB suite of tags and CSS).

SmashWords is a self- e-book publishing outfit. They’ve arranged for their titles to be included in the catalog of titles available for download to the iPhone using the Stanza e-book reading application.
