Taking another bite out of Apple

Money, ebooks Add comments

So finally my issue with Apple’s getting some play, which is to say, over at The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It blog.

Author Moriah Jovan had a book rejected last month on that basis (although the rejection didn’t mention the book’s more creative obscenities).

Let me be clear about one thing. My other obscenities are no more or less creative than the average steamyhawt romance novel. In my opinion. However, if the steamier novels could make the cut because of the absence of the F-bomb, then yet another level of hypocrisy will have been reached. (I’d be interested to know what, if any, romance novels get converted to apps and put in the store.)

The article talks about the difference between rejected apps that are NOT e-books because e-books do have an alternative method of distribution to iPhone. (Ahem, my book is available through the SmashWords/Stanza catalog.) Anyhoo, I’m hearing that there is absolutely NO organization to the iApp store, so maybe it doesn’t matter anyway.

Except, you know, my cover Bewbies are totally eye-catching, no?

I need to expand my horizons. I can’t remember the last time I read a novel without at least a dozen F-bombs. I didn’t realize those kind of novels still existed.

Apple…grow up. Seriously. Those people who don’t buy those kind of novels in a bookstore won’t buy ‘em from you either. But those of us who do would like the opportunity to do so from you. And those of us who write ‘em would love it if you gave us a chance.

MoJo…you know how I feel about Da Bewbies. :)

RJ, yes, I know you love The Bewbies. Th., I’ve been thinking about making it available in hardback so that people could take the jacket off if they wanted. Best of both worlds…

On the other hand, if you had an e-book reader…

Well, you may be another step closer to iTunes. There has been some wild kerfluffle with some of the apps for the iPhone, with Apple rejecting all things Twitter because *gasp!* there might be obscenity. I’m not sure if they’ve realized it’s a losing battle or if they realize they have to go with the flow or risk losing business to third-party vendors, but they’ve now reversed their decision on Tweetie 1.3

Why does your blog hate me? :P Tack this on the end for a complete thought:

Ugh! (What happened to the edit function?) Can bewbies and salty language be far behind? :)

Okay, the edit function went away because for some unknown reason, it stopped functioning. :D

I’m going to have to take a closer look at that iPhone blog you linked later, though. My imaginary friends are wreaking havoc upon my brain AND I am knee deep in a design project that’s got me twitterpated.

Not to be confused with twittered.
