Contest!

Books*Authors*Pubs Add comments

As about 4 of you know, The Proviso goes on sale tomorrow. So to celebrate that (’cause, you know, I don’t drink and can’t share champagne virtually anyway), here’s a contest!

Three print copies of The Proviso (huge honker, too) and 5 ebook copies will be awarded to randomly chosen commenters who answer the following questions:

1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ;) ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?

2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)

3. Do you like blond heroes?

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?

5. Paper or electrons?

Contest ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m. CST. Winners will be chosen randomly by random.org and announced Tuesday.

So, you 4 who read this blog, go find 4 friends who’ll pad the comments, ’kay?

(An honest review would be greatly appreciated, but not expected.)

    1. LMAO @ “other than Mr. Darcy” Since I recently finished rereading “Blood and Chocolate,” I’d have to say, Gabriel.

    2. hmmm, well I don’t know the name of it, but it was basically these rectangles of color that an 8 year old could have painted. I made a big thing about it in my art history class, so it became a running joke.

    3. Spike, Yum. Eric, Yum. (Buffy, and True Blood)

    4. No, but my husband has.

    5. Paper of course.

also, if I randomly win, I want print…mmmkay? Cause I won’t read ebooks. Not a snob, just don’t read fiction that way.

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?

So far, any of Helen Kirkman’s heroes. Unless you want cannon lit. Then we have to go for Scout’s Dad in To Kill a Mockingbird. He’s hot.

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)

Spellbound by Rosetti, but I can list about 15 more given time.

    3. Do you like blond heroes?

    Yes.

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR

Not to the best of my knowledge.

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?

    5. Paper or electrons?

    Whatever trips your trigger.

    1. Heathcliff. Can I have a Heathcliff and Sydney Carton sandwich?

    2. I don’t. I’m not much of a visually-oriented person.

    3. I’d take a dark-haired hero if I had a choice, but I’ve been known to lust a little after a blond or two.

    4. I’ve never been.

    5. Depends on the use. I’d rather send an e-mail than write a letter, for example.

Congratulations on this release! I hope you see great success.

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?

Well, gee. If I’m only meeting her I’d have to go with Lucy from the Scarpeto series, simply because she seems like she would be a really interesting person to hang around with for a while (and hack into a few computer networks over lunch). If we’re talking biblically, Roarke from the JD Robb Death series. ;)

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!) Not really. Art isn’t my thing.

    3. Do you like blond heroes? They’ll do. Dark and handsome works for me too.

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? Yes. I grew up in Topeka, just down the road. :)

    OR

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?

    5. Paper or electrons? Paper. I have a Kindle, but since it’s not available that way just yet the regular version will have to suffice.

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?
I’d like to meet Piscene Molitor Patel but if I wanted to “know” someone of literary fame in the biblical sense, I’d like to think I’m up to Scarlet O’Hara, but I would settle for Susan Burling Ward.
    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)
    The Cardsharps by Caravaggio.
    3. Do you like blond heroes?
Can’t think of a single one. Redheads!!!
4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR
Well, of course I have. Once I went to a workshop at the KCSC (IRS).
4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?
Sorry, I don’t live there or have a favorite part of town. But I could.
    5. Paper or electrons?
    Yeah, both. Kindle rocks!

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ;) ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?

Well gee, you’re taking away one of the best choices. So, digging into my bedside book pile–how about Harry Dresden (Jim Butcher, Dresden Files series), or maybe Davy Dempsey (Jennifer Crusie, Faking It), or…well, I could go on since there are so many lovely fictional men out there :)

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)

I’m in a Matisse mood lately, maybe The Dessert: Harmony in Red or Woman in a Purple Coat.

    3. Do you like blond heroes?

Sure, but I tend to sway toward dark and brooding.

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR

Yes, but only once many years ago.

    5. Paper or electrons?

Pretty much a paper person here!

Congratulations and good luck with your book release!

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ;) ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically? Roarke!

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? I must say the picture in my dining room by Christian Reese Lassen.

    3. Do you like blond heroes? I prefer them dark.

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? Nope.

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?

    5. Paper or electrons? Paper.

    Congratulations on your release!

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy ;) ] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?
    John Carter of Mars. Hot.

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)
I like most anything by Botticelli.

    3. Do you like blond heroes?
    I like ALLLLL heros!

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR
    No.

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?
    Never been!

    5. Paper or electrons?
Electrons are like quickies- good when you want it fast. Paper is still, however, the best. I love a solid book I can hold.

    :)

    1. What literary character [uh, other than Mr. Darcy] would you most want to meet and/or know–you know, Biblically?

Hercule Poirot, but not Biblically!! Ha ha ha..

    2. If you have a favorite piece of artwork, what is it? (If you don’t, that’s okay! Just say so!)

The Mona Lisa, by Leonardo Da Vinci

    3. Do you like blond heroes?

No. I’m more romantically minded and like my heroes dark and somewhat swarthy. :-D

4a. Have you ever been to Kansas City? OR

I’m assuming you mean Kansas City, Missouri, and if so, yes, I’ve been there. I have relatives there. :-D

4b. If you live in Kansas City, what’s your favorite part of town?

    I live in Salta Argentina.

    5. Paper or electrons?

    Paper, please.

    Answers to contest:
    1. Gus McCrae in Lonesome Dove. Especially if I get to fantasize that it’s really Robert Duvall.

    2. Girl With A Pearl Earring by J. Vermeer. Not sure why. Also like the works of Diego Rivera.

    3. Have always preferred dark-haired heros. Italian/Greek/Latino. grrrrr.

    4. Though I haven’t been many places outside of the western U.S., I actually HAVE been to Kansas City – a few times!

    5. Paper, please.

Well, silly me. I just noticed that the contest ended 2 days ago. Oh well… I enjoyed answering the questions.
