50-book challenge? Eh…

Books*Authors*Pubs Add comments

I never liked those challenge games that constructed some artificial competition or non-competition. I pretty much do what I like and call it a day.

However, I’ve got a few things on my plate and I really want to get back into the swing of regular reading. So I’m still working on The Hole. My pal Phil Persinger (who was not my pal when I reviewed his book, but has since become—funny how friendships come about, eh?) suggested I read The Master and Margarita, so I went henceforth and found it on some random free e-book site (that’s a story! and I will tell you it later).

So I’m gonna post my list here, in case anyone cares in the least bit what I read.

    You’re killing me.

How’d you like Fools Rush In? I almost bought that yesterday.

Hmm. I started Master and Margarita almost ten years ago, when I was too young to really appreciate it, and never finished it. It was way before Sympathy for the Devil became one of my favorite songs. It is still on my to-finish list.

Oh! Your reference to “Sympathy for the Devil” reminded me of a couple of things.

    A. I don’t think this Don Henley song ever go much play, but I love it: “The Garden of Allah.”

    B. I always wondered if Christ’s parable of the prodigal son was applicable to Lucifer himself.

    .

I saw your list: I wondered. So it has an endpoint?

No. Hence, the “Eh…” [insert gallic shrug here]

Gulp! I always get nervous when I recommend a book I’ve read over 35 years ago.

I probably should get the Google breathalyzer plug-in for my emailer.

The Master and Margarita is one of my favorite novels. I re-read it once every year. So although you may very well need a breathaalyzer plug-in, Philip, you have impeccable taste.
